Famous Engineers

The engineering discipline is seen as a noble profession that not only affects the technology of the world, but also the lives of all people globally. Different engineers have contributed to the development of engineering in different aspects that have changed lives (Vitaliev 72). This discussion will highlight ten remarkable engineers that made different contributions in different fields of engineering.

James Watt

James Watt was a mechanical engineer who invented the steam engine. His invention is used for coal mining, textile manufacturing, and transportation among other industrial use. The Watt unit of power has an origin from James Watt during measurement of the power of the invented steam engine.

    Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla was an electrical engineer. He is remarkable for the invention of fluorescent lighting, the Tesla Coil, induction motor, and 3-phase electricity. He also developed AC-current generator system.

    Nicolaus Otto

Nicolaus Otto was a mechanical engineer who aided in the invention of the four-stroke engine to drawing fuel and air, compressing them, ignites them, and expels the entire system.

    Archimedes

Archimedes is remembered for the invention of how to determine an object’s volume by analyzing the amount of water displaced. He also invented levers, and pulleys and Archimedean screw in the field of mechanical engineering.

    Leonardo DA Vinci

Leonardo DA Vinci is considered the engineer of all the time who designed bridges, parachutes, hang-gliders, and transmission. He is remarkable in the field of aviation; he foresaw air aspects including helicopter and the submarine. Revolutionary engineers argued positively about the effectiveness of his handwork and even considered other designs to have been working in case they were made by Leonardo Da Vinci.

    Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison is a designer in the field of electrical engineering. He holds a record of over 1097 patents in history. He is remarkable in the development of the phonograph, stock ticker, incandescent light bulb, motion picture camera, and projectors among others. In addition, he significantly contributed in the creation of the first electrical plant.

    Henry Ford

Henry Ford got an interest in the automobile engineering field in the production of cars. He is remarkably remembered for the establishment of the moving assembly used for huge production of cars. Through using different principles from the industry, Henry Ford recorded a braking car production rate within a short span of five years. He uses the principles such as interchangeable parts, reducing waste efforts, continuous flow, and division of labor.

    Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright

Wilbur Wright and OrvilleWright, famously known as “The Wright Brothers” were mechanical engineers who got interested in kite-flying. Wilbur and Orville Wright are engineers of all the times due to their invention in pulley system that brings the alteration in the shape of wing in mid-flight and in the alteration of the speed in the mid-flight. The Wright brothers are also remarkable in aerodynamics and propeller design.

    Heron Ho Alexandreus

Heron Ho Alexandreus was a mechanical engineer who invented Aeolipile, a jet engine. This was a significant aspect of the industrial revolution; however, the invention was never implemented. Heron is also remembered as a scholar who wrote works on pneumatics, mathematics, and physics.

    Alan Turing

Alan Turing is significant in computer engineering where he invented binary architecture used in computers. He is also remarkable in the creation of many software applications for architectural use.
